We are deeply saddened to know that Amb. Rodolfo C. Severino Jr., former Secretary-General of ASEAN (1998-2002 ) passed away yesterday, April 19. We honour his astute leadership and we cherish the memories of his tremendous service to ASEAN. His passing is an immeasurable loss to the ASEAN Community. Considered a sacred art, Sbek Thom or Cambodian shadow theatre goes beyond a ritualistic activity to become an artistic form while retaining its ceremonial dimension. It features a two-metre-high, non-articulated puppets made of leather carved into a character representing gods and deities. The shadows of the puppet silhouettes are then projected on a white screen accompanied by an orchestra and two narrators.
